Lockdown collage unlocks hope for a brighter future
Recently, our Eve’s Space workers challenged some of their service users to produce an individual piece of art in their own homes. These were then artfully brought together by the team as a collage in celebration of International Women’s Day.
International Women’s Day is celebrated each year on March 8th. This year, the theme this year was “Choose to Challenge”.
So Eve’s Space workers challenged some of their service users to produce an individual piece of art on the subject.
It was suggested they might like to express their life experiences by producing a mixed media piece, which they felt represented their own story.
As we were in lockdown at the time, the team went round to individual homes to drop off art materials.
The rest was left up to the women themselves.
We collected in all their individual efforts and produced a wonderful collage celebrating the diversity of backgrounds and stories of the women we support.
Even though we were all separated through the pandemic, the participants in this art project said it gave them a sense of connection and belonging.
When it was completed, we all met up over Zoom to celebrate their efforts, which was fantastic.
Their work was reproduced in the Greater Manchester Women’s Support Alliance newsletter and has been seen all over the country.
It just shows that working creatively and together our women can be a formidable force, as they strive towards a brighter tomorrow.
