Christine is a qualified teacher with a specialism in work with young people experiencing learning difficulties and severe behavioural problems. She is the co-founder of Urban Outreach and has delegated responsibility of the board of trustees for prayer leadership, and for supporting the recruitment of staff and volunteers, and for external communications. In December 2020, together with her husband Dave, she was delighted to be awarded an MBE in recognition of his selfless service to the Bolton community over many years.
Sam is a local entrepreneur and chartered surveyor. He is a Fellow of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors. He has been in business for more than 35 years undertaking large residential and industrial property development projects. His business also builds care homes for elderly people with a specialism in dementia nursing care.
Rev Canon Roger Oldfield
For 35 years Roger was on the clergy staff of St Peter’s Halliwell as Curate, Vicar and Associate Minister. For nine years he was also Area Dean of the Anglican Churches in Bolton. During this time and since his retirement in 2010 Roger has been an active supporter and friend of Urban Outreach.
Christine has been involved in work on a local housing estate for many years supporting the community in children and young people’s work. She has been instrumental in developing a centre for elderly members of the community who are isolated. She was also part of the team which piloted Bolton’s first ‘Pantry’-style foodbank on the Johnson Fold estate.
Ross is a local business owner running Principle Bookkeeping Services. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Certified Bookkeepers. Ross has been an active member of his church Smithills Fellowship, part of St Peter’s Halliwell, serving in the Leadership Team for many years. He has also been a longstanding volunteer and Team Leader with our Winter Watch project.
